Anthropic adds bank account access to Claude so users can track their spending
Anthropic is introducing a new feature in Claude called Personal Finance, which allows users to connect their bank and card accounts and ask questions about their finances. Access is read-only; Claude cannot move, manage, or invest money.
Account linking is handled through the Plaid service, and Claude does not have access to the bank password. Users can break down expenses by category, check upcoming payments, or ask questions such as “Am I spending more than I earn?” The feature is launching in beta in the U.S. for Pro, Max, and Ultra subscribers.
Anthropic says conversations in the Personal Finance section won't be used for model training. Users can disconnect their accounts at any time. The company also says it won't show ads or sponsored recommendations. Long-term, Anthropic wants to connect Claude with licensed financial advisors and regulated firms. OpenAI already offers a similar feature in the US called Finances.
