Sony has announced a new line of PlayStation 5 accessories called the Prism Collection, which features translucent controllers and console covers. This collection revives the popular transparent design style of the late 1990s in a modern way for DualSense wireless controllers and PS5 console covers, allowing parts of their internal components to be visible.
The Prism Collection will hit the market in three colors: red, green, and gray-blue. Pre-orders for these products will begin on November 10 through the online PlayStation store and select retailers, with their official release scheduled for February 4, 2027. Sony has priced the wireless controllers in this collection at $84.99 and the console covers at $74.99.
According to a post published by Sony on the official PlayStation Blog, the creation of this new collection was inspired by the desire of the company's design teams to give the PlayStation 5 a transparent look, enabling players to take a closer look at the design and craftsmanship behind the DualSense controllers and PS5 consoles.
Earlier this year, Microsoft also introduced a special edition to celebrate Xbox's 25th anniversary, featuring a semi-transparent green body for the console and select accessories, drawing inspiration from the original Xbox console's design.
