Meta’s Muse AI assistant has been out for about two months, and it’s already received a couple of upgrades. It impressed us when we tried it, and since then, Meta has rolled out two new Muse Wonder models. Now, the company is introducing yet another useful feature.

In a new blog post, the company announced that users can now have real-time conversations with the AI assistant. Users can tap the phone icon in the top-right corner of their Muse conversations screen to start a real-time call with the AI. Meta says it’s using Muse Realtime Voice and Muse Realtime Avatar technology to make conversations feel more realistic and natural. You can also interrupt Muse while it’s talking if you want.

Meta says that your Muse avatar’s facial expressions and lip movements will sync to its speech when you’re on a call with it. It will also react as it listens to you speak. You can change its voice by choosing one of several hundred voice styles in the app. Meta’s chief AI officer, Alexandr Wang, also shared a post on X showcasing the new Muse voice feature in action. The embedded video shows his Muse avatar reacting to the conversation in real time.

That said, if you don’t want your Muse avatar in your face while you talk, you have options. You can choose to keep things voice-only, show the avatar alongside the chat screen, or go full-screen for a more “face-to-face” experience.

The real-time voice conversations feature is rolling out in the Muse app on mobile, web, and Mac. It is currently limited to users in the US. Meta has also confirmed that voice conversations with Muse are coming soon to Meta AI glasses and the upcoming Muse Charm.
